AkiDwA has been delivering Cultural Competence Training over the past few years. In response to participant feedback, we recently reviewed and restructured our training module to ensure it remains relevant, impactful, and responsive to current needs.
Training Objective
The aim of AkiDwA’s Cultural Competence Training is to equip individuals and organisations with the knowledge, skills, and self-awareness needed to engage respectfully and effectively with people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The training promotes inclusive practices, enhances intercultural communication, and supports participants in recognising and addressing both personal and systemic biases. It ultimately fosters equitable environments that value and respect diversity.
Training Topics Covered
Understanding culture and cultural beliefs from diverse perspectives
The stages of cultural competence in a multicultural society
Unconscious and conscious biases, and microaggressions
Racial dynamics in cross-cultural interactions
Developing a cross-cultural perspective
Navigating and embracing cultural diversity
Key Outcomes
Participants will:
Develop a deeper understanding of culture and cultural identity
Strengthen their ability to communicate effectively across cultures
Recognise and address unconscious bias and microaggressions
Cultivate cultural humility and awareness
Build confidence in navigating diverse social and professional contexts
Our training incorporates real-life case studies and tailored handouts to enhance participants’ understanding and support the practical application of concepts. To ensure participants receive the full benefit of the training, we recommend a minimum of two full days (7 hours per day). The cost of the training is is €1,500 per day.
